Introduction: Innovative teaching strategies are essential in early teacher training to foster academic commitment and pedagogical excellence. Objective: To assess the relationship between the use of innovative teaching strategies and the level of student involvement among pre-service secondary teachers of English language. Methods: We used a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 34 pre-service teachers and a structured questionnaire focused on innovative methodologies, such as Problem-Based Learning and gamification, as well as the dimensions of student involvement. Results: There was significant usage of active strategies, with Gamification and Problem-Based Learning being the most prominent. More diverse strategic implementations matched more intense student involvement. Conclusions: Integrating innovative strategies during the initial teacher training stage favors commitment and professional readiness.
