About the Journal
Revista Rupturas is a biannual, free-of-charge, open-access scientific journal, published by the Center for Research in Culture and Development. Its first issue covers the months of January through June, and its second issue covers July through December. Its objective is to provide a space for scientific exchange, reflection, and debate from different theoretical approaches and epistemological and methodological perspectives related to the social sciences. The journal is primarily aimed at academics—engaged in research, teaching, and outreach—and students interested in research and theoretical, epistemological, and methodological inquiry.

We warmly welcome you to Revista Rupturas. This is a semiannual indexed publication of the Center for Research in Culture and Development (CICDE), part of the Office of the Vice President for Research at the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED), Costa Rica.
The name of this journal is intended to synthesize two interconnected realities. First, the social turbulence we are experiencing, which produces multiple ruptures across the social, cultural, economic, and political landscape of our societies. Second, the mission assumed by our journal is to provide a space for the publication of cutting-edge research aimed at contributing elements that help shed light on sociocultural, economic, and political processes that, due to their emerging and complex nature, currently generate uncertainty and perplexity.
Rupturas is a semiannual digital journal. Its first issue covers the months of January to June and is published every January 31. The second issue is published online every July 31 and covers the months of July to December.
