Benchmarking en la cirugía general: Un modelo evaluativo de los procesos de eficiencia, finanza , sostenibilidad y calidad. Un breve vistazo a la parametrización de la atención quirúrgica en Costa Rica

El presente trabajo revisa los principales aspectos del benchmarking en cirugía general a partir de una revisión de literatura, en la que se consideran conceptos básicos de esta práctica, su evolución, el impacto en la calidad asistencial y las metodologías empleadas para medir y comparar el desempeño de los servicios quirúrgicos. Los hallazgos muestran un evidente vacío en la aplicación de esta metodología en los servicios quirúrgicos públicos costarricenses. Asimismo, se identifica una gran posibilidad para la mejora mediante la aplicación de estas prácticas, tanto para determinar estándares básicos de atención, como para generar procesos de parametrización de la salud.
