O Estatuto Epistemológico da Pesquisa-Ação: uma Releitura Realista Crítica

A literatura sobre pesquisa-ação/PA enfatiza seu papel, simultâneo, de produção de conhecimento e intervenção social. Todavia, duas críticas lhe têm sido tradicionalmente imputadas: (1) a de que não seria uma estratégia científica de produção do conhecimento, devido à falta de objetividade decorrente da indissociação valor-fato/teoria-prática; e (2) de sua incapacidade de gerar generalizações, já que o conhecimento produzido seria socialmente e subjetivamente contextualizado. Argumentamos, no entanto, com/e a partir do realismo crítico/RC, que tais problemas poderiam ser mitigados se parte dos elementos centrais daquela abordagem forem ressituados e erigidos sobre as bases do RC. Este paper realiza, então, uma reflexão epistemológica acerca da PA, discutindo os principais obstáculos à disseminação e ao uso dessa estratégia, considerando: (1) seu estatuto epistemológico, (2) suas características distintivas e (3) sua capacidade de generalização. Como conclusão, apontamos alguns dos principais pontos pelos quais uma inflexão da PA via RC deveria passar, assim como algumas implicações dessa «atualização» paradigmática.
