Desempeño productivo de Acheta domesticus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) bajo cuatro regímenes alimenticios

Introducción: ante el creciente interés por la entomofagia como alternativa alimentaria en Costa Rica, la producción de A. domesticus representa una oportunidad para el desarrollo de sistemas productivos innovadores. Su consolidación requiere optimizar los procesos técnicos bajo condiciones locales y evaluar estrategias que permitan incrementar la eficiencia y escalabilidad de la producción. Objetivo: evaluamos el desempeño productivo de A. domesticus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) bajo cuatro regímenes alimenticios en el trópico seco de Costa Rica. Métodos: realizamos la investigación en la Finca Experimental Santa Cruz de la UCR (Guanacaste) durante los meses de octubre a diciembre 2024. Evaluamos cuatro dietas en A. domesticus mediante un diseño completamente al azar con seis repeticiones. Tras 56 días, recolectamos los especímenes para cuantificar su peso (fresco y seco), densidades y rendimientos volumétricos mediante sacrificio por choque térmico y deshidratación a 35°C. Analizamos los datos en RStudio con pruebas de Shapiro-Wilk, Levene, ANOVA y Tukey (p ≤ 0,05). Resultados: cosechamos 12 965 individuos con una proporción sexual equilibrada (51% hembras, 49% machos) sin diferencias significativas entre dietas. El régimen alimenticio afectó significativamente el crecimiento poblacional y la biomasa, donde el concentrado para perro (D2) resultó ser el menos eficiente. En contraste, las dietas para gallina (D1), tilapia (D3) y pollos (D4) conformaron un grupo superior y homogéneo con los mejores parámetros productivos. Conclusiones: la dieta no afecta la proporción sexual de A. domesticus, garantizando la estabilidad del sistema. No obstante, la nutrición es clave para el rendimiento: los concentrados para aves (D1, D4) y peces (D3) son altamente eficientes y estadísticamente superiores al de canes (D2). Esta homogeneidad entre los tratamientos líderes ofrece flexibilidad al productor para seleccionar el insumo según costo y disponibilidad regional sin sacrificar la productividad.
