El microbioma intestinal humano

El microbioma es una comunidad ecológica simbiótica de millones de microorganismos que influyen en la homeostasis, isiología, bioquímica y en la susceptibilidad a enfermedades del hospedero, a través de sus actividades metabólicas. Estos microorganismos obtienen energía, sustratos alimenticios, y un nicho biológico, mientras que, el hospedero obtiene una mayor capacidad metabólica, protección contra patógenos, obtención de nutrientes y se contribuye con la maduración del sistema inmune. La microbiota humana es inmensamente diversa y varía dependiendo del nicho biológico que ocupa y factores como el ambiente, dieta, etnia y edad contribuyen con la diversidad.
